Floods kill 2 in DavOr-A A +A

FLOODING as a result of days of rain killed two persons in Davao del Norte and affected 4,404 families or 15,965 individuals in Cateel, Davao Oriental, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) in Davao Region reported.
Based on the latest update from the OCD as of 2 p.m. Monday, the affected barangays in Cateel were Alegria, San Miguel, San Alfonso, San Vicente, Baybay, Taytayan and San Rafael.
In Davao del Norte, 1,483 families or 4,956 individuals from 12 barangays were also affected by floods.
The municipality of Carmen was the hardest hit in Davao del Norte with 1,135 families or 3,405 individuals affected.
Two persons were reported dead in Davao del Norte with one victim coming from Tagum City while another one perished in Asuncion.
A total of 166 families or 830 individuals, meanwhile, were hit in six barangays in Compostela Valley Province.
The affected families in Davao del Norte were forced to evacuate in the Carmen Municipal Gym, different barangay halls and schools while families were also forced to move out from their homes and on to the different barangays halls in Compostela Valley.
The Papag Bridge in Baganga, Davao Oriental was rendered impassble to all vehicles as the flood totally destroyed the bridge.
The San Jose Bridge in Caraga, Davao Oriental, meanwhile, is impassable as well as.
The roads in the municipalities of Carmen and Kapalong in Davao del Norte are also impassable for light vehicles as the floodwater is yet to subside while the road in Asuncion, Davao del Norte is impassable to all types of vehicles since the water level is still high.
