POLICE filed on Saturday charges before the City Prosecutor's Office against the man who stole the handgun of a security guard.
PO1 Jocris G. Sarenas, investigator of the Buhangin police station, identified the suspect as Bryan Remo Genturales, 28, a haba-habal (motorcycle) driver, of San Miguel in Indangan, Buhangin District, Davao City.
Genturales was brought for inquest proceedings around 10 a.m. Saturday.
Initial investigation of the Buhangin Police Station showed that the security guard was attending to something when the suspect asked his permission to use the toilet at the Star Oil Gasoline Station along Carpio Road in Buhangin last Monday.
As Genturales left the toilet, he took the guard's gun placed inside a drawer while the guard's attention was somewhere else.
SPO1 Edgar Ybañez, chief of the Regional Intelligence Unit, said in his affidavit that the suspect was arrested at their checkpoint in Indangan around 1:30 p.m. Friday.
The suspect is now detained at the Buhangin police station. (ICT)
