A 50-YEAR-OLD man faces charges before the Regional Trial Court (RTC) for allegedly harassing his live-in partner.
Charged with violation of Republic Act 9262, otherwise known as the Violence Against Women and Children, was Roberto Bitoy.
Prosecutor Stella Esparagoza-Camino found probable cause to charge the accused based on the complaint/affidavit of a certain Len (not her real name), Puno's live-in partner.
Court records showed the couple engaged in a heated argument at around 3 p.m. on January 21.
According to the complainant, the accused choked her when Bitoy got irritated. She said the accused even attempted to strike her head with a bottle, allegedly dragged the complainant outside their house and threatened to kill her.
The complainant also claimed the accused ripped her pants in front of their neighbors.
The complainant sustained several injuries due to the incident.
In her ruling, Esparagoza-Camino said that based on the evidence presented before the City Prosecution Office, the prosecution finds probable cause to charge the accused for violation of the Republic Act 9262, following the violence he committed to the complainant.
The accused is now detained at the Bunawan Police Station for proper disposition.
