POLICE arrested a suspect who attempted to extort money from a member of the board of director of the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC)-Davao inside their office on Roxas Ave. in Davao City on Saturday.
The suspect was identified as Triensy Jatico Sy, 23, of Teacher's Village in Calinan, while the victim was identified as lawyer Aileen Lizada, 48.
Superintendent Antonio Rivera, chief of the Investigation and Detection Management Branch (IDMB) of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), along with Senior Inspector Dionisio Escobanez, PO3 Alvin Inventor and PO3 Dominic Kempis conducted an entrapment operation around 7 a.m. at the PNRC office that resulted in Sy’s arrest.
Based on initial investigation conducted by IDMB, the victim and the suspect previously met last Friday at the RMC Gym.
The suspect, police said, demanded for a P1,500 allowance from the victim.
The victim then agreed to give the allowance to the suspect but she will give it at the PNRC office.
The victim then complained to the IDMB, prompting the latter to conduct an entrapment operation the following day.
Recovered from the suspect were three P500 bills and two Nokia mobile phones.
The suspect is now detained at the DCPO where he will be facing charges of extortion.
