VTHE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Davao Region has filed charges before the City Prosecutor's Office (CPO) against two men and a woman for illegal drugs.
PDEA Regional Director Emerson Rosales identified the suspects as Rasid Ali Panares, alias Popoy, 25, of Pikit in North Cotabato; Annaliza Madam Gumiling, 43 and her partner, Jeoffrey Castillon, 45 -- both residents of Block 26 Lot 14 Emily Homes Subdivision in Digos City.
Rosales said the three suspects were brought before the CPO on Monday morning for inquest proceedings.
Agents of the PDEA, with the personnel of the Davao del Sur Provincial Police Office (DSPPO), first arrested Gumiling and Castillon in a raid in their house at Ph.1 Emily Homes in Barangay Tres de Mayo in Digos City early Saturday.
Digos Police Station chief Allan Manibog said the two were arrested in a raid, following the search warrant issued by Judge Carmelita Sarno Davin of regional trial court (RTC) Branch 19 in Digos City dated February 16.
Recovered from the possession of Gumiling and Castillon were medium sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, otherwise known as shabu, assorted drug paraphernalia, and assorted kinds of live ammunitions inside their residence.
Manibog said aside from the violation of Republic Act 9165 or The Illegal Possession of Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 charged against Gumiling and Castillon, the latter were also charged with violation of the Republic Act 8294, or The Illegal Possession of Firearms and Commission on Elections (Comelec) Gun Ban.
Meanwhile, Rosales said Panares was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay San Jose in Digos City on the same date around 11 p.m.
"He (Panares) was arrested after he sold a small sachet of suspected shabu to one of the responding men, who acted as poseur buyer. Nabili namin sa kanya yung illegal drugs sa halagang P2,000," Rosales said.
Recovered from the possession of Panares were one small sachet of suspected shabu worth P2,000, one medium sachet of suspected shabu worth P8,000, two pieces of P1,000-marked money, and assorted drug paraphernalia.
He said Panares is charged with violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), and Section 12 (Possession of Paraphernalia for Drugs) of Republic Act 9165 or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The three suspects are now detained at the Digos City Police Station detention facility, while the seized suspected drugs were already submitted to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Provincial Crime Laboratory.
