A YOUNG man is facing charges before the City Prosecution Office (CPO) for breaking into a house of their neighbor.
Sta. Ana Police Station head Superintendent Caezar Cabuhat identified the suspect as Rogelio Camabungan Peke, resident of Isla Verde in Barangay 23-C, Quezon blvd., in Davao City. He was charged with robbery and harassment.
Cabuhat said the suspect was brought before the CPO for inquest proceedings, following his arrest on Thursday at 4:30 a.m. based on the complaint/affidavit filed by the victim, identified as “Jocelyn.”
Initial investigation conducted by Sta. Ana police showed that the victim was sleeping inside her room when she was awakened by a noise outside, which prompted her to go up and check on the matter.
But according to the victim, when she opened the door, she saw his two young neighbors whom she only knew by face sneaking around. One of the two suspects covered her mouth, while the other mashed her breast.
The victim resisted and shouted for assistance, which prompted the two suspects to run to unknown direction. But the suspects were able to take the victim's Cherry Mobile phone worth P1,300, a Nokia phone worth P4,500, a wallet that contains P2,500 cash, and her other important documents.
The police immediately conducted a manhunt operation leading to the arrest of Peke. The other suspect is still at large.
"We were able to recover the P2,500 cash but the two cellular phones and other documents of the victim are still with the other suspect," Cabuhat said, adding that Peke is now detained on their jail facility. (Ivy C. Tejano)
