Carpenter shot dead

A 35-YEAR-OLD carpenter was shot dead by gunmen riding-in-tandem a motorcycle at Garnet St., RGA Village, Barangay Paciano Bangoy, Davao City Thursday.
The victim was identified as Tomas Gellia, 31, resident of Purok Sampaguita, Barangay Paciano Bangoy.
Sta. Ana Police Station said the victim was on his way to work when two unidentified men onboard a motorcycle approached him. One of the suspects suddenly pulled out a .45 caliber pistol and shot the victim six times.
The victim was found dead on the spot after succumbing to gunshot wounds to his head, back and waist.
Recovered from the crime scene were four empty cartridges of .45 caliber pistol.
Further investigation revealed that the victim along with his wife Karina, 29, had a heated altercation with one alias Toto Verano whom they are indebted with P2,500.
The wife of the victim said Verano threatened his husband that he will kill him if they don't pay the debt.
Sta. Ana police made a follow-up investigation at the house of Verano but the latter was not around when the cops came.
Based on the testimonies of witnesses, however, the plate number of the blue Honda XRM ridden by the suspects was YF-5405. (Ruji Peter S. Abat)
