Piggery caretaker stabbed dead

A 49-YEAR-OLD piggery caretaker was stabbed dead by his workmate around 11:40 p.m. Saturday at Saint John St., Crossing Bayabas, Toril, Davao City.
The victim was identified as Victoriano Betonio Monteza, caretaker of Juliana Piggery, while the suspect was identified as one Roberto Batuhanon, of legal age and a resident of Curvada, Barangay Lizada, Toril.
Based on initial investigation conducted by Toril Police, Monteza was on his way home along with his wife, when upon reaching a dimly-lit area, the suspect appeared and stabbed him for no apparent reason.
The wife of the victim ran for fear of her life, while Monteza tried to escape. He was able to run toward their home and asked help from his sister identified as Nora Geronimo Monteza.
The victim, who was rushed to the Saint John Hospital in Toril, was able to provide the name of the suspect to his sister. He, however, was pronounced dead-on-arrival by attending physician Dr. Rachel Jucon.
Police are yet to identify the motive of the suspect, who is now a subject of a manhunt operation. (Ruji Peter S. Abat)
