Woman faces charges for threat, gun ban

THE woman, who earlier threatened workers in a construction site near Ciudad de Esperanza, is facing charges before the Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC) and the Regional Trial Court (RTC) for threat and keeping a bladed weapon.
Charged with grave coercion of the Revised Penal Code (RPC) and Commission on Elections gun ban was Adriana Herbolingo Uyanguren, alias Beb, 49, resident of Cabantian in Davao City.
Prosecutor Stella Esparagoza-Camino found probable cause to charge Uyanguren based on the complaint/affidavit of Celso Carandang, project supervisor of Santo Angel Development and Realty Corporation (SADRC).
In a resolution dated March 14, the charges filed against the accused was resolved pursuant to Revised Rules of Criminal Procedures (RRCP), considering the accused opted not to avail of her right to a preliminary investigation.
According to Carandang, he was looking at his workers developing the land of the SADRC on March 12 when around 20 persons, armed with bolos and stones, arrived in the area and tried to stop the operation of the bulldozer, resulting in a commotion.
Carandang said the persons who protested ran way when the security guards of the company and personnel of the Buhangin Police Station arrived on the area, while the accused was left, and was arrested.
Records from the Buhangin Police Station showed that the accused was with her friends and neighbors -- threatening workers on the site. Recovered from the possession of the accused was a 24-inch bolo.
Based on the evidence presented before the prosecution, Esparagoza–Camino found probable caused to charge the accused and other 20 John Does with grave coercion before Municipal Trial Court in Cities.
Meanwhile, the gun ban charges against the accused would be filed before the Regional Trial Court.
The accused was detained at the Buhangin Police Station, but was released last week, after she posted bail worth P12,000.
