Ateneo teacher killed in vehicular accident

A 31-YEAR-OLD teacher was killed while her husband was injured in a vehicular accident along Kawayan Drive on McArthur Highway in Matina, Davao City on Wednesday.
Killed in the incident was Taperla Pelovello, a Grade 5 teacher at Ateneo Grade School and a resident of Versarie Village in Bago Aplaya.
Her injured husband was identified as Jolan Tan Pelovello, driver of the Yamaha Vega motorcycle with plate number 111601.
The motorcycle that the couple was riding was bumped by a public utility jeepney (PUJ) from the rear causing the two victims to be thrown off their vehicle.
The driver of the PUJ with plate number LVU391 was identified as Joselito Ledesma Dioquirio, of San Gabriel, Mintal. The PUJ was registered under the name of Elizabeth Real.
Senior Police Officer 1 Antonio M. Teon of Talomo police said both were travelling along the south bound lanes of McArthur Highway when the accident happened.
Upon reaching Kawayan Drive, the driver of the PUJ lost control of brake and hit the back portion of the couple's motorcycle.
The teacher died on the spot and her body was brought to the St. Peter Funeral in Toril.
The PUJ driver is now detained at the Talomo police and is awaiting charges for reckless imprudence resulting to homicide, physical injury and damage to property.
