PROVINCIAL Board of Canvassers (PBOC) for Compostela Valley Province chair Lawyer Jennifer Ancla proclaimed the winners of the May 13 midterm elections in the province.

Ancla, in a phone interview with Sun.Star Davao Thursday, said gubernatorial candidate Arturo Uy and vice gubernatorial bet Manuel Zamora were already proclaimed winners.

Uy ran unopposed while Zamora was proclaimed winner after beating Franco Tito by a wide margin. Zamora got 119,521 votes as against Tito's 43,514 votes.

Incumbent Rep. Maricar Zamora and Rep. Rommel Amatong of the first district and second districts, respectively, kept their post after running unopposed.

Ancla also named the winners for members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan for the second district with Jayvee Tyron Uy leading the polls followed by Ruwel Peter Gonzaga, Cesar Richa, Moran Takasan and Macario Humol.

"Ang among proclamation based sa Comelec Resolution 9700 kung asa gipabaan na ang canvassing threshold and gi-allow ang mga local election officer na mag-declare ug winners (The proclamation was based on the Comelec Resolution 9700 wherein the canvassing threshold was decreased and local election officers are allowed to declare the winners)," Ancla said.

Ancla, however, said they are yet to proclaim the winners of the First district Sanggunian Panlalawigan members as they are still awaiting the results from the municipal board of canvassers (MBOC) in the municipality of Compostela.

"Since there is still a special elections in clustered precinct no. 22 in Gabi Elementary School, the MBOC in Compostela is not yet allowed to transmit the result in their municipality. We will just have to wait for the results in that clustered precinct before MBOC will transmit the results" Ancla said.

The voting at the Gabi Elementary School opens at 7 a.m. and will end at 7 p.m. today.
