CHARGES were filed before the City Prosecutor’s Office (CPO) against a man for trying to kill his neighbor.
Police identified the suspect as Joel Garces Cagaanan, 43, while the victim was identified as Narciso Daguplo Cadenas, 26, both residents of Sitio Magatong in Barangay Tawan-Tawan of Baguio District, Davao City.
A source from the CPO, who refused to be identified for lack of authority to speak, said the suspect was charged with attempted homicide under the Revised Penal Code, after he was brought to their office last week for inquest proceedings.
Records from the Baguio police station showed that the victim sought for police assistance, after he was hacked by the suspect.
The victim was having a drinking session with his brother and the suspect in front of their yard, when the victim's brother and suspect argued on a certain issue. The victim tried to pacify the clash, but instead, the suspect hacked him.
The suspect was allegedly about to hack the victim again, when the neighbors arrived and stopped him. The neighbors were able to pacify the commotion in the area.
The victim sustained one hacked wound on his head and was brought to the Southern Philippines Medical Center. The suspect was arrested and is now detained at the Baguio Police Station. (ICT)
