2 Davao schools top Indak-indak-A A +A

THE Holy Cross of Calinan and Panay National High School won the Indak-indak sa Kadalanan competition for Davao-based and open category, respectively.
The Holy Cross of Calinan had the story line of "The Legend of Eagles," while the Panay National High School from Sto. Niño town in South Cotabato performed "Antig (A Maguindanao Folk Narrative)."
Each school won the grand prize worth P300,000 in cash.
Magallanes Elementary School placed first runner up, Kapitan Tomas Monteverde Sr. Elementary School ranked second runner up for the Davao-based category.
For open category, Tribu sa Lalan from Polomolok, South Cotabato was the first runner up, while Tribu Talaingod from Davao del Norte placed second runner up.
The winners were announced at 5 p.m. of Saturday.
Indak-indak sa Kadalanan is a competition of choreographed and theatrical dance and narratives inspired by Mindanao indigenous tradition, epic stories, myths, legends and important cultural events or representation of festival celebrations of the island performed in the major streets of Davao City.
In street dancing showcase, the contingents performed their street dance pieces continuously in a forward moving manner, while the showdown performance, the contingents were required to perform in an on-the-round manner with a minimum of five minutes and a maximum of eight minutes.
The street dancing and the showdown performances were done simultaneously which started at 8 a.m. of Saturday.
