Intel reports already named KIM in 2012-A A +A

THE Khilafa Islamiya Movement (KIM), the group being blamed for the Cagayan de Oro City bombing, was already being monitored even at the time when Mohd Noor Fikrie Bin Abd Kahar, said to be a member of the Jemaah Islamiyah (JI), arrived in the city in December 2012, Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Director Ronald dela Rosa said.
“That was already under the radar of the intelligence community during the time of Fikrie,” dela Rosa told Sun.Star Davao and ABS-CBN Davao in an interview on August 15.
Kahar, an alleged suicide bomber and believed to be a member of the JI, was shot dead by authorities on December 14, 2012.
Kahar was with his wife Annabelle Nieva Lee, a native of Sorsogon, who was arrested for allegedly conspiring with her husband.
Lee was charged with violation of Republic Act 9516 or The Illegal Possession of Firearms, Ammunition or Explosives before the Regional Trial Court Branch 14.
“Gi-trace back nato karon diri sa record sa intelligence diri sa Davao, kanang KIM naga surface na siya panahon pa ni Fikrie (We traced back intelligence records here in Davao and confirmed that the existence of KIM has already been reported even during the time of Fikrie),” dela Rosa said.
Dela Rosa said that the activities of KIM have a greater bearing on the security of the city.
“I’m not so much concerned about what happened in Cotabato City basta mas concern ko sa nahitabo sa CDO because of the affiliation of the group nga responsible sa CDO with that of Fikrie (I’m not very concerned about the bombing in Cotabato, I’m more concerned about the Cagayan de Oro bombing because of the affiliation of the group accused to be behind this bombing to Fikrie),” he said.
He added that they have names of persons belonging to the group that they are tracking.
Local authorities caught at least three believed to be bombers but Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte ordered them to be released because there was no evidence to prove such suspicion except for the photos of suspected terrorists who look like them.
The pictures, dela Rosa earlier said, have already been circulated around the country. Those who were in the photos were alleged members of KIM, he said.
However, dela Rosa refused to confirm whether or not the three are members of the KIM.
“Mga miyembro sila sa KIM. Unsa may KIM? Among nasayran nga sila ang Kaibigang Inyong Maaasahan (They’re members of KIM. What does KIM mean? It means friends you can rely on)," he jested.
