2 Davao City Jail escapees recaptured-A A +A

TWO inmates who earlier escaped from the Davao City Jail in Maa were arrested in two separate areas in Davao City.
Jail Officer 1 Harvey Bryan Malnegro of the community relations service of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Davao Region, identified the inmates as Annalyn M. Reyes and Mary Jane Malakas.
Malnegro, in his statement emailed to Sun.Star Davao on Wednesday, said Malakas was first tracked and arrested at Barrio Pogi in Daliao, Toril on August 17 at 7 p.m. while Reyes was arrested in Barangay Maligatong, Baguio District on Tuesday at 9 p.m.
He added that the arrest of the suspects has been successful in coordination with the members of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) and Task Force Davao (TFD) posted in Toril and Baguio District.
"Upon careful consolidation of the gathered information, the BJMP operatives with the police and members of the Task Force Davao nahuli natin yung mga nakatakas na inmates," Malnegro said.
Malnegro said Reyes was charged with robbery with intimidation of person with criminal case number 74, 780-2013 while Malakas was charged with qualified theft with criminal case number 74, 387-2013.
The inmates escaped from Davao City Jail Female Dormitory on August 17 around 4 p.m.
Upon learning the information, Jail Senior Supt. Amelia V. Talento, BJMP regional director, immediately formed a team and some available personnel to conduct the manhunt operation.
Malnegro added the inmates were already detained back at Davao City Female Dormitory for further investigation and disposition of the case and also to resolve the personnel's negligence of their duties.
Malnegro said an administrative case may be filed among the concerned personnel.
