DAVAO City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte said he might start releasing today, Aug. 21, the bonuses of some 800 barangay tanods who volunteered to render their services during the Kadayawan sa Dabaw Festival.
He said the reward, which will come from his personal funds, will either be handed to the barangay captains or be given directly to the barangay police.
"Ako pa silang istoryahon (I'll talk to them first)," Duterte said. "Ako lang ipatawag ilang mga barangay captain or sila mismo muanhi diri. Dili nako isulti pila (I'll just call their respective barangay captains or they will personally come here. I won't tell how much).”
At least 20 barangay policemen from 40 barangays in Poblacion District volunteered to reinforce the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) in securing the city during the two major events of Kadayawan 2013.
Duterte earlier said he might give at least P10,000 to each of the barangay police.
The barangay policemen were tapped for anti-terrorism and anti-criminality (pickpockets and sexual advances).
Each barangay police was given designated areas.
The highlights of the Kadayawan sa Dabaw 2013 were held peacefully over the weekend.
