City urged to resolve Marilog boundary issues-A A +A
Thursday, August 22, 2013
THE village council of Marilog Proper, Davao City has asked the City Council to resolve the boundary conflicts among the six barangays in Marilog District.
A copy of the resolution of the regular session of Barangay Marilog Proper read that a recently constructed purok (meeting hall), in front of Lumondao Elementary School in sitio Kibangay allegedly "overlapped and encroached" on other areas in Marilog Proper.
It said the affected areas are sitios Patag, Salopongan, Namnam, Quilon, and Upper Kibangay.
The resolution read that the situation in five areas has been "complicated" due to the constructed purok which was allegedly built "without any coordination and permission from the barangay council."
Thus, the barangay Marilog leaders, led by Barangay chief Leonilo Suyko, sought the help of the City Council to intervene with the ongoing dilemma "to avoid misunderstanding."
The barangay leaders wanted the City Council to conduct a committee hearing to gather all the respective leaders and settle the problem.
The item was passed on first reading during the regular session on Tuesday, August 20.
It was referred to the committee on barangay affairs, chaired by Councilor Edgar Ibuyan Jr., for committee hearing.
