THE 17th City Council is studying measures to fix tangled wires and cables mounted on poles along the streets in Davao City.
Councilor Leo Avila, chair of the Committee on Transportation and Communication, said he has been receiving complaints and concerns on the issue on the state of the telephone and cable lines all over the metropolis.
Avila raised his observation in a privilege speech last Tuesday.
As an elected official, he said he wanted to initiate measures to fix the "dead and abandoned lines" by calling the attention of the companies through the Pole Users Association.
"We are reminded that Davao City is a highly urbanized city that has not only caught the attention in Asia but the whole world in terms of trailblazing programs and policies which I don’t have to mention now," he said.
He added: "As we increasingly attract tourists and investors, we must now take a look at how we compare with other cities internationally. It is not that we have to imitate them, but I believe it is to learn from them."
He said the city's "skyline deserves a better view," hence, problem on tangled wires must be addressed and solved as soon as possible.
