A MAN is facing charges before the City Prosecutor's Office for trying to kill a boy on Km. 14 in Panacan, Davao City on Wednesday.
Charged with frustrated murder is Charlie Bonbon Casalo, a 27-year-old truck helper of Barobo, Surigao del Sur.
The case was filed through summary inquest on Friday by operatives of Sasa police after Casalo allegedly hacked a 17-year-old boy identified only as alias RJ.
Investigation conducted by Senior Police Officer 1 (SPO1) Domenick Patajo of Sasa police showed that while Casalo parked his truck in the area, he approached RJ and told him to stay away from the two sacks of copra placed in the truck.
But RJ allegedly did not mind Casalo and continued to approach the truck.
The accused got a bolo inside his truck and hacked the boy three times believing that the boy was about to steal the sacks of copra. RJ sustained three hack wounds on the back of his head and his back. He was brought to the Southern Philippines Medical Center where he is still under critical condition.
Casalo, meanwhile, fled onboard his truck but was later arrested by SPO1 Mario Lara of the Highway Patrol Group at an outpost in Panacan.
Lara endorsed Casalo to Sasa police. Recovered from Casalo was a bolo which was also endorsed to the police and will be used as evidence against him.
