A MAN is facing charges before the Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC) after he was found armed with a sickle while trying to steal the side mirror of a car.
Charged for theft and concealment of deadly weapon was Erickson Aquino, 22, unemployed of Punta Dumalag, Matina Aplaya, Davao City.
Prosecutor Oliver N. Saniel found probable cause to charge Aquino based on the complaint filed by victim Edsel Anthony Pichon Rosaroso.
Rosaroso, in his affidavit, said the incident happened around 8 p.m. at McArthur Highway, Matina, Davao City.
The complainant said he parked his Suzuki multi-cab in the area to visit his fiancé.
The complainant was informed by the brother of his fiancé that someone was taking the side mirror near the driver's seat of his parked multi-cab.
Rosaroso said he immediately went outside and he saw the suspect holding the side mirror of his car.
Rosaroso said he chased the suspect, who ran towards Davao Executive Homes, and shouted for help, prompting bystanders in the area to accost the suspect and held him until police responded.
Recovered from the possession of the suspect was the stolen side mirror from Rosaroso's multi-cab and a sickle measuring around 10 inches.
Aquino is now detained at Talomo police station, while the recovered items will be used as evidence against him in court.
