THE Police Regional Office (PRO) in Davao has mapped out measures to ensure a peaceful and orderly Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Election 2013.
Chief Superintendent Wency T. Pascual, PRO Davao director, gathered the police directors of Davao City Police Office (DCPO); Davao del Norte; Davao del Sur; Compostela Valley; and Davao Oriental to discuss the upcoming barangay and SK election slated on October.
"The Philippine National Police (PNP) has already activated the Task Force Safe 2013 in preparation for Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections set on October 28," Pascual said.
Pascual said the police and military in the region have joined forces in securing a peaceful and orderly election. He added that as of now he's gathering assessments from various police offices in terms of security concerns in their area of responsibility.
He said they tackled during their coordinating conference on Wednesday the identification of election hot spots, monitoring and neutralization of private armed groups, and the accounting of loose firearms.
Pascual said they will also activate a task force that will address the proliferation of loose firearms and dismantle the private armed groups in line with the Commission on Election (Comelec) rules.
Pascual added that the 45-day Comelec Gun Ban will take effect on September 28, 30 days before the election and 15 days after the election.
On the other hand, Pascual said joint deployments will be done in every municipality. Any untoward incident in their respective areas will be a joint operation for the military and police.
"Sa ngayon, pinag-uusapan pa lang namin yung deployment and security measures that we are going to implement on the upcoming election," Pascual said.
