A CONSTRUCTION worker is facing charges before the Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC) for mauling and trying to kill his co-worker last Friday.
Facing charges for attempted homicide is Ranil Adlawan Bandola, a laborer at a construction site at Monteritz Subdivision in Ma-a, Davao City.
Prosecutor Lady Juris Ratunil-Zozobrado found probable cause to charge Bandola based on the complaint filed by Reynold Saban, 22, of Lanzona Subdivision, Matina.
Saban, in his affidavit, said the incident happened at around 8 a.m. at the said construction site, where he and the brother of the respondent identified as Belan had an altercation.
The complainant said the quarrel started when he called the brother of the accused, "bosing" (boss) and offered him assistance. The latter, however, refused to be assisted. Instead, Belan told the complainant, "Ako na man nuon imo kuhaan ug trabaho. Ayaw bosing-bosing dira. Ikaw ra man ang bosing diri, (So you're taking my job now. Don't call me boss. You are the only boss here.)"
While Belan and the complainant were arguing, Ranil butted in and told the two, "Kung isog mo, sa kalsada pag sumbagay, (If you are brave, then have a fistfight along the road.)"
Saban didn't want to engage in a fistfight thus, he calmed down. But Ranil punched him on his face.
Saban stumbled to the ground while Ranil picked up a steel pipe and attempted to hit the complainant on his head. Saban managed to evade the attack but Ranil continued to land blows on the different parts of Saban's body.
Ranil was then pacified by his brother and two other co-workers identified as Dodge Eulogio and Markim Elorde. Eulogio and Elorde then called Talomo police who later arrested the suspect.
Judge Jill Rose Jaugan-Lo issued an order of discharge to the Talomo police after Ranil posted a P12,000 bail bond on Tuesday. (Ruji Peter S. Abat/Sun.Star Davao/Sunnex)
