Former soldier, civilian killed in shooting incident-A A +A

A FORMER Army official and a civilian were killed in a latest shooting incident at the corner of Marfori and Father Selga streets in Bankerohan, Davao City on Thursday.
Police identified the victims as former Sgt. Eroplin Amolo Lelis, 53, of Barangay 76-A Bucana, while the civilian was identified as Reynatito Lina Cayog Jr., 42, of Sto. Niño, Mintal.
Investigation conducted by San Pedro police showed that the victims were just standing in the area when four unidentified armed men onboard two motorcycles stopped by and opened fire on the victims.
Both victims died on the spot.
Witnesses said another armed man onboard a motorcycle was standing by the area believed to have acted as the look-out.
Scene of the Crime Operatives in Davao Region responded at the scene and recovered 12 fired cartridges of caliber .45 pistol.
San Pedro Police Station chief Joel Consulta, in an interview, said: "Patuloy pa ang investigation natin sa kaso na ito. So far wala pa tayong leads kung ano ang motibo ng mga suspects sa pagpatay, (Our investigation on the case is still ongoing. So far we do not have any leads yet on the motive of the suspects in the killing.)"
Consulta added the two victims have no criminal records and the incident was different from the recent shooting incidents which involved the killing of victims who are either gang members or involved in criminal activities.
