A MAN was arrested by the police for illegal recruiting, including minors, from Davao Oriental.
The suspect was arrested at 2 a.m. Tuesday, in Bajada, Davao City.
The suspect was identified as Mark Joseph Pusta Evaresto, 21, from Mati City.
According to the blotter of San Pedro Police Station, 15 men complained about the suspect, five of them were minors.
The 15 who hail from Mati City and Cateel, Davao Oriental said Evaresto promised them work.
It was learned that the suspect brought the 15 victims to Davao City last September 2 and had them stay in a boarding house.
The week after arriving in the city, the suspect collected a P1,000 fee from each of them, allegedly for their uniforms to be used at work.
The accused also allegedly got all their cellphones and were not given food contrary to a promise that they will be properly accommodated before they start work.
On Tuesday, the victims decided to file a complaint against the suspect after agreeing that they have apparently been duped.
An estafa case has been filed in court against the suspect by the 15 along with the owner of the boarding house.
