Man faces robbery raps-A A +A

CHARGES were filed before the City Prosecutor's Office against a man arrested for robbing a store in San Vicente, Buhangin, Davao City Tuesday.
Facing charges of robbery is John Reagan Bongkal, alias Jay-R, 27, from Laverna Hills Subd., Phase 3, Buhangin. Bongkal was charged after stealing from the store owned by Julius Tutongan Awangan, 40, married, and a resident of Zone 5, San Vicente, Buhangin.
Investigation conducted by Buhangin police showed that the incident happened around 6:30 a.m. The victim was inside his house when the suspect reportedly opened the window of the store and reached for the drawer inside to take away P28,850 worth of sales.
Upon returning to the store, the victim saw the suspect reaching for the said drawer and taking the cash. Awangan shouted at the suspect prompting the latter to flee on foot. A chase then ensued. While chasing the suspect, the victim sought for police assistance.
The suspect was then cornered along San Isidro, Buhangin by responding police officers from the Buhangin police led by Police Officer 2 Carlos Cacho.
Recovered from the possession of the suspect was the said amount of cash in different denominations.
Bongkal is now detained at the Buhangin police station while the recovered cash will be used as evidence against him during the preliminary investigation in court.
