AS PART of their adaptation measures for climate change, SM City Davao officially launched its Automated Weather Station (AWS) on Tuesday at the SM City Davao Annex.
"In this effort, we aim to carry out our responsibility in keeping the public...As it is part of our agenda in business continuity amidst climate change, the AWS systems can help us in deciding how to go about an upcoming or occurring typhoon," said SM City Davao mall manager Lynette A. Lopez in her welcome remark.
Engr. Warren Rey Bautista said the AWS, which can be accessed from the internet, can give a lead time for the user on how to react to the weather in their area through localized forecasting.
He added that this will be a useful tool for travelers as they plan their trips on certain days.
"Knowledge of these weather details will help business owners on deciding how to run their operations when there are changes in the weather," Bautista said.
The AWS can measure humidity, wind direction and velocity, amount of rainfall, air pressure, temperature, and solar details.
Users can check the weather details on www.weather.com.ph through their handheld phones or tablets.
For this year, 49 SM Malls will be installing the AWS.
