POLICE have filed charges before the City Prosecutor's Office (CPO) against an 18-year-old man who attempted to kill another in a shooting incident at NHA Bangkal in Davao City last Tuesday.
Facing attempted murder charges and violation of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban is John Dave Codiban Lucena, 18, a driver and a resident of NHA Bangkal, Davao City.
Talomo police filed the complaint after Lucena allegedly shot Jerson Silong Morales, 18, of Central Park, Bangkal.
Police investigation showed that the two were playing billiards at a billiard hall at 8 a.m.
Lucena reportedly lost in their game. He then told Morales that he will be going to his brother's house to get money which he will pay to the victim for losing the game. The victim then accompanied Lucena to the home of the latter's brother.
Lucena made the victim wait at the relief bridge at NHA Bangkal as the suspect proceeded to his brother's house. The suspect, however, was already armed with a caliber .38 revolver when he returned.
Lucena reportedly aimed for the victim's leg, but he hit Morales on his abdomen instead.
The victim was brought to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC), where he was under critical condition, while the suspect went to his brother's house.
Talomo police responded at the scene and arrested the suspect. Police also recovered the firearm used in the incident.
The respondent is currently detained at Talomo police station while the recovered firearm was endorsed to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Crime Laboratory and will be later used as evidence against the suspect in court.
