IN COMMEMORATION of Fr. Fausto "Pops" Tentorio's second death anniversary, militant groups are set to conduct a series of activities from October 15 to 17 in Davao City.
Bayan-Southern Mindanao Region, in an e-mailed advisory to news organizations Sunday, said the activity will start with a Holy Mass to be followed by a forum on Justice and Peace at 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Finster Auditorium of Ateneo de Davao University on October 15.
Another mass will be held at Our Mother of Perpetual Help (OMPH) or Redemptorist Church in Bajada in Davao City on October 17.
Sheena Duazo, Bayan-MMR secretary-general, in an earlier interview, said they will appeal to the National Government for further investigation on the murder of the priest, whose killing has remained unsolved despite the arrest of the alleged suspect Jimmy Ato.
Ato was arrested last December 29 by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation from Kidapawan and Cagayan de Oro.
But the group remained skeptical of the suspect's inconsistent statements and testimonies.
First, the suspect admitted he killed the priest and that his brother Roberto was the driver of a Honda motorcycle, which he used as get-away vehicle after the killing.
But few days later, Ato denied the crime and instead tagged two prominent personalities in Arakan town as the "masterminds."
Tentorio, a parish priest of OMPH in Arakan, North Cotabato, was shot dead last October 17, 2011. (ICT)
