City gives 42 new police cars, motorbikes-A A +A

THE City Government of Davao purchased 22 brand new Toyota Hilux police car units and 20 units of 125cc motorcycles to be distributed to different police stations of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) to step up visibility patrols and for "target hardening" against all forms of security threats.
Retired General Francisco Villaroman, Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC) head, said the newly-acquired vehicles will augment the existing numbers of patrol cars owned by the city police.
He said Mayor Rodrigo Duterte personally asked the 12 police station commanders in the city regarding the availability of patrol cars in their respective station during a command conference at the Grand Men Seng Hotel in July.
In the same meeting, the station commanders expressed their desire for additional patrol cars for rescue and operation.
Villaroman said the DCPO will determine how many vehicles will be distributed to each police station and the PSSCC will countercheck the data submitted.
"Tapos kukunin namin yung mga sirang sasakyan, ipapaayos namin," he told Sun.Star Davao on Tuesday.
Duterte earlier identified Toril, Calinan and Marilog police stations that are in need of 4 x 4 vehicles.
