A MAN is facing charges before the City Prosecutor's Office for trying to kill a man in a stabbing incident at Purok 5, Punong Uno, Bunawan, Davao City, on Monday.
Charged with frustrated murder and violation of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban under the Comelec Resolution 9651-A is Aurelio Bajo Almadin Sr., 59.
Almadin was charged for stabbing Ruel Ronolo Matuod, 23.
Bunawan police's investigation revealed that the incident happened around 10:30 a.m. Prior to the incident, the victim and the respondent had a heated altercation. The respondent was agitated by Matuod, prompting the suspect to stab the latter with a spear.
The victim was rushed to the Southern Philippines Medical Center after sustaining a stab wound on his back. The respondent, meanwhile, turned himself in to the Bunawan police. Almadin also surrendered the spear measuring around six feet.
The respondent is currently detained at the Bunawan police while the spear was submitted to the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory and will be used as evidence against the suspect in court.
Since the start of the Comelec gun ban last September 28, the Davao City Police Office has arrested a total of 33 gun ban violators. The arrests resulted to the recovery of 12 firearms, 19 bladed weapons and two explosives.
