Duterte shrugs off lewd photo scandal-A A +A

DAVAO City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte shrugged off Monday the proliferation of a lewd photo of a candidate for kagawad who is now accusing an incumbent barangay chair, who is seeking re-election.
“Ang election hugaw gyud (Elections is always dirty),” said Duterte, who cast his vote in Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School around 2 p.m. Monday.
Copies of nude photos were allegedly circulated and distributed to residents of Barangay 10-A on Saturday afternoon.
A woman, who is a candidate from Barangy 10-A in Poblacion, admitted that she was the woman in the photos, which show her having sex with a man, who allegedly is a re-electionist chair of a different barangay here.
“All is fair in love and war and in election time,” Duterte said when asked to comment on the issue.
He said he was even accused of having many mistresses during one of the past elections.
“Akoa dati tag unom daw, pito ka babae. Sus (I was accused of having six, seven mistresses),” he said.
The woman on the photo is sure it is the incumbent official who was behind the circulation of the photos two days before elections.
"Wala akong ibang lalaki na kinakasama," said Mary, not her real name.
"Tinawagan niya ako. Nagalit siya na pumunta ako sa pulis at sinabi ko may kinalaman siya sa kasong pagpatay. At sinabi niya may ipapakalat siyang mga pictures," she added.
Because of that, the victim said she is set to file charges on Anti-Violence Against Women and their children (VAWC) Act against the barangay captain.
The accused barangay captain, on the other hand, said this is nothing but a demolition attempt related to politics.
“Gigamit lang nila ang babaye aron dauton ko. Di tinuod ang gisulti niya kay wala koy labot sa iyang pamulitika sa Barangay 10-A (The woman is just being used to destroy me. There is no truth in what she is saying because I don’t have any interest in the politics of Barangay 10-A),” he told Superbalita in an earlier interview. (With reports from SuperBalita)
