THE Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Davao del Sur chapter condemned the grenade explosion inside a prosecutor’s house in Digos City, Davao del Sur, early Monday dawn.
Lawyer Israelito Torreon, IBP Davao del Sur chapter president, said although no one was hurt, the “brazen act of violence” committed against Davao del Sur Provincial Prosecutor Artemio Tajon around 1 a.m. of October 28 is alarming.
The explosion damaged a portion of the fiscal’s house and wrecked his vehicles parked inside a residential compound along Estrada St. in the village of Zone 2, Digos City.
“The PNP (Philippine National Police) is earnestly requested to conduct a thorough investigation on the matter so that the perpetrators and mastermind of this grievous act will be unmasked and thereby prosecuted to the fullest extent under the law,” Torreon said.
Police authorities are still looking into the motive of the grenade explosion inside a Tajon’s house.
Based on initial police investigation, a fragmentation grenade was lobbed at Tahon’s residence.
Police said the person who threw the grenade used a black pick-up truck as get-away vehicle. (Arianne Caryl N. Casas/Sun.Star Davao)
