Brgy. 76-A election recount ends today-A A +A
Tuesday, December 10, 2013
THE recount and revision on the 117 ballot boxes questioned by a reelectionist chief of Barangay 76-A Bucana, Davao City is expected to end today, December 10, an official of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC) Branch 2 said.
MTCC Branch 2 Clerk of Court Juvy Garcia, in an interview with Sun.Star Davao, said that even if presiding judge Marie Estrellita Tolentino-Rojas scheduled the recount and revision from December 3 to December 19, the process may be expedited as they have shifted their focus on the recount and revision alone.
"Two weeks ago, no cases were raffled off to our branch since we already told the MTCC-Office of the Clerk of Court not to raffle cases here since we will be working on the recount and revision. With no other cases to handle, we are expected to finish the recount and revision ahead of the scheduled period," Garcia said.
As of Monday, the recount and revision committee appointed by Tolentino only have eight ballot boxes left to recount and revise out of the 117.
The three recount and revision committees, meanwhile, are composed of personnel of the MTCC Branch 2 as chairpersons and representatives of complainant former Barangay 76-A captain Robert Olanolan and winning village chief Rolando Trajera.
Olanolan filed an election protest on November 8 seeking for the recount of the election results in the polling precincts at Cesario Villa-Abrille Elementary School and Kabacan Elementary School. This after he accused Trajera, his supporters and the Board of Election Tellers (BETs) of massive election fraud citing incident of ballot switching, voter impersonation and non-compliance of election procedures for the BETs.
