CHARGES were filed before City Prosecutor's Office against a man arrested in a buy-bust operation Sunday on Magallanes St., Davao City.
Facing charges for violation of the Republic Act (RA) 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, is Michael Sabandal Alilaya, 30, who hails from Matalam, North Cotabato. Alilaya was arrested by operatives of the San Pedro police led by station commander Supt. Joel Consulta.
Records from the police revealed that around 1:30 p.m., an informant reported to San Pedro police citing that the suspect contacted him and asked if he could help the suspect sell illegal drugs. Consulta then told the informant to arrange a transaction with the suspect at a lodging house along Magallanes St. in preparation for the buy-bust operation.
Police then made the arrest after Alilaya handed out a sachet of shabu worth P1,000 to a police officer who acted as a poseur buyer.
Also recovered from the possession of Alilaya were two big sachets containing shabu worth P70,000, a digital weighing scale used for repacking illegal drugs and assorted drug paraphernalia.
The respondent is currently detained at the San Pedro police station while the recovered illegal drugs were endorsed to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Crime Laboratory and will be later used as evidence against Alilaya in court.
He may be charged with violation of Section 5 (Sale, Trading, Administration, Dispensation, Delivery, Distribution and Transportation of Dangerous Drugs and/or Controlled Precursors and Essential Chemicals), Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 12 (Possession of Equipment, Instrument, Apparatus and Other Paraphernalia for Dangerous Drugs).
