Council to ok P245-M Supplemental Budget today-A A +A

THE City Council of Davao approved on Thursday on second reading the proposed Supplemental Budget No. 3 (SB3) amounting to P245 million, the bulk of which will go to the Peace and Order Program of the city.
The SB3 is set to be approved on third and final reading today during the council’s last regular session for 2013.
The proposed SB3 pegged at P245,735,412.33, consists of the general fund proper (P212,948,995.32); development fund (P29,708,793.37); and economic enterprises (P3,077,623.64).
SB3 will be taken from local sources pegged at P150 million.
The City Mayor’s Office has the highest appropriation for the SB3 under the general fund proper amounting to P173,700,112.54, set aside for the peace and order and Lingap programs.
The peace and order program gets P150 million budget while the Lingap program has P23,700,112.54.
Other appropriations include the City Council (P3,871,594); City Civil Registrar’s Office (P7,500); City Treasurer’s Office (P121,668); City Assessor’s Office (P252,387.83); City Veterinarian’s Office (P231,900); and City Environment and Natural Office (P6,338,666.10).
The city also allocated funding for electricity expenses (streetlights) worth P16.5 million, disaster risk reduction management fund with P7.5 million; aids and contributions to national government agencies such as Comelec (for national and local elections) worth P4.2 million; Aviation Security Command with P27,752; and Department of Labor and Employment (P50,000).
Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang said the city has to allocate bigger budget for the Lingap program due to “influx of patients in the city”.
“Demand of medication is high,” he said.
