POLICE are set to file charges against three suspects accused of swindling in Buhangin, Davao City Wednesday.
Facing charges of swindling are Nenita Alcopre Malquisto, Ruel Petilla dela Cuesta, and Marilyn Pascobillo. The three will be charged after they allegedly duped one Celina Lourdes Mariano Fajardo, a 64-year-old, housewife, of the same place.
Investigation conducted by Buhangin police revealed that the incident happened at 8:30 a.m. The victim was walking along Km. 5 in Buhangin when Malquisto approached her and introduced herself as a Malaysian national.
Malquito told Fajardo that she was looking for a store where she can purchase various chemicals.
Dela Cuesta then pretended to help Malquito and told Fajardo to come with them.
The three went to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) and dela Cuesta pretended to ask the prices of some chemicals. They then boarded a vehicle on their way back to Buhangin.
When they were on their way to Buhangin, Pascobillo boarded the vehicle. Pascobillo handed out a bag to the victim and told her to put her belongings inside which Fajardo did.
Fajardo gave the bag to Pascobillo and the latter checked it before giving it back to the victim.
The suspects then took the victim to their residence. When the victim checked her bag, she was surprised to find that four sheets of pad paper inside while her Samsung Galaxy Tab worth P27,000, Samsung mobile phone worth P6,000, one gold wedding ring worth P8,000, one Louis Vuitton bag worth P13,000, one wrist watch worth P8,000 and cash worth P4,000 were already missing.
She then reported to the Buhangin police where she was able to identify the suspects through rogue gallery. Police also revealed that Pascobillo was already imprisoned and charged for swindling before, but was released after posting bail.
