No disaster management council in Davao Sur yet-A A +A
Monday, December 16, 2013
THE Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (DRRMC) in Davao del Sur has not yet been reconstituted due to change of administration, a representative from the province said.
Harry Chester Camoro reported at the Disaster Risk Reduction Management Councils (DRRMC) Year-End Accomplishment and Assessment that the province has no DRRMC yet.
Thus, it was included in the year-end accomplishment and assessment's issues and concerns initiated by the Office of the Civil Defense held last week at the Apo View Hotel.
He said the province is zeroing in on reconstituting the council since the province is prone to calamities like tsunami, storm surge, landslide, and flooding.
Camoro said the lack of logistics has added to the delay of the council's reconstitution.
He added they are now utilizing the lone ambulance to be used for the rescue operation in the entire province.
He said they also found out that there was no equipment left for the province's DRRMC except for a 50-meter rope that is being used for rescue operations.
He added that the budget of the council on disaster risk reduction management was P31 million.
Camoro also said Governor Claudio Bautista pledged to purchase at least two 4×4 pick-ups and four ambulances for search and rescue operations for the council, which are expected to arrive next year.
