CHARGES were filed before the City Prosecutor’s Office on Thursday against a man who tried to kill a 41-year-old woman and slapped the responding police officer at Coaco Beach Resort on Km. 9 in Sasa, Davao City on Christmas Day.
Facing charges of frustrated homicide, direct assault and resisting arrest is Erick Macadumpis Antolin, 33-year-old taho vendor and a resident of Bolton Relocation in Sasa.
Antolin was charged after trying to kill Norma Vergara, a 43-year-old housewife of Upper del Carmen, Sasa, and assaulting PO1 Charlene Gumaga.
Investigation conducted by Sasa police revealed that the incident happened around 11:45 a.m. of December 25.
Police said while Vergara was walking along the beachside, Antolin, who was observed to have been drunk during the incident, suddenly grabbed the victim by her hair and dragged her to the beach in an attempt to drown her.
Gumaga, who was manning the area, tried to stop Antolin but the latter told the police officer, "Ayaw paglabot-labot diri ha. Basin apilon taka ug lumos karon, (Don't interfere here or else I'll drown you as well!)"
The police officer then tried to arrest Antolin but the latter slapped Gumaga on her face.
The lady police officer managed to subdue Antolin and locked him up at the Sasa Police Station.
The case is currently being handled by Prosecutor Serafica Justiniani Weis. (RPSA)
