Man tries to shoot security guard, faces charge-A A +A

POLICE arrested on Friday a man who tried to steal the service firearm of a security guard detailed at New Oil Mill in Davao City.
Monico Gramatica Barrera, 34, of Purok 5 at Sto. Nino village in Tibungco, was arrested following the complaint of Marty D. Abarca of New Strong Point Investigation Security Agency.
Records from the Sasa police showed that while the guard was manning the entrance and exit gate of the oil milling company around 6 p.m., Barrera appeared from behind and grabbed Abarca’s service firearm caliber.38 pistol.
The suspect then tried to shot Abarca, but the guard managed to run and hide, while his colleague Marlo Labaroda held the hand of the suspect and disarmed him.
Responding policemen arrested the suspect. Recovered from the possession of the suspect were kitchen knife and the service firearm of the security guard.
The suspect is now detained at the Sasa Police Station. He is facing charges of violation of the Republic Act 1780 (Concealment of bladed weapon) for keeping a bladed weapon, and attempted murder for trying to kill a security guard.
