Police hunt men in laborer slay-A A +A

POLICE are hunting down armed men who gunned down a construction worker on Diamond Street at RGA village in Barangay Paciano Bangoy, Davao City on Friday.
The victim was identified as Ian Aposaga Nibres, alias Hapon, 27, resident of Emerald Street at RGA Village.
Nibres succumbed to several gunshot wounds in different parts of his body. According to the witness, one of the two unidentified men riding a blue Honda Dream 100 motorcycle shot the victim.
Records from the Sta. Ana police showed that the incident happened at around 7:30 a.m. while the victim, on board his bicycle, wandering in the area with his cousin, Cleo Calledo.
The armed men approached the victim and shot the victim, but missed. This prompted the victim and his cousin to run towards Cabaguio Ave. where the victim was cornered before he was shot several times.
The killers hurriedly left the victim, while Calledo sought the assistance of Barangay Paciano Bangoy chief Jovito Salazar, who reported the incident to the Sta. Ana police.
Personnel of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (Soco) recovered from the crime scene eight empty shells and two deformed slugs of the caliber.45 pistol. Recovered also from the possession of the victim was dried marijuana leaves placed in his coin purse.
The police believe that the motive of the killers has something to do with the alleged illegal activity of the victim.
The body of the victim was brought to Angel Funeral Parlor, while the police are still conducting investigation to identify and trace the whereabouts of the killers.
