POLICE arrested a man for trying to kill his mother inside their house at Lower Rapnaga in Bago Aplaya in Davao City Saturday afternoon.

Police Officer 1 (PO1) Mark Cañon of the Mobile Patrol Group (MPG), endorsed the accused, Philip Martin Palo Jamil, to the Talomo Police Station for stabbing his mother identified as Tarzona P. Jamil, 71, of the same address.

Cañon’s initial investigation shows that the incident happened at 2 p.m. of December 28. The victim was preparing their meal in the kitchen when her son appeared and stabbed her on the back.

Tarzona, who was hit at the right side of her neck, ran outside for help. Her husband brought her to Seventh Day Adventist Hospital.

The suspect is now temporarily detained at the Talomo Police Station.

According to Philip’s father, his wife and his son had a confrontation early Saturday morning with regards their son’s vices. Their son, he said, is mentally unstable.

"He started his vices when he reached 20. Among his vices are drinking alcoholic liquor and smoking cigarettes," the father told the police in the vernacular.

The victim was later transferred to Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC). The police are preparing the charges of frustrated parricide to be filed before the City Prosecution Office on Monday against the suspect.
