CHARGES were filed before the City Prosecutor's Office against a man arrested for trying to kill a security guard and for illegal possession of bladed weapon at the New Davao Oil Mill Inc. in Panacan, Davao City on December 27.
Facing charges of attempted murder and concealment of deadly weapon is Monico Gramatica Barrera, 34, from Purok 5, Sto. Niño Village, Tibungco.
Barrera was charged after trying to kill Marty Domagonot Abarca, a 24-year-old security guard assigned at the New Davao Oil Mill Inc. and a resident of Sarmento Subd., Km. 14, Panacan.
Investigation conducted by Sasa police revealed that the incident happened around 6:15 p.m. Abarca was on duty at the oil mill when the respondent suddenly approached him from behind and snatched his .38 caliber revolver.
The respondent aimed at Abarca and pulled the trigger but fortunately, Barrera missed. Abarca ran away from the respondent but the latter continued to chase him.
But when the respondent was about to gain on Abarca, Marlo Labarosa, a security who was also on duty during the incident grabbed the respondent and disarmed him.
Recovered from the right pocket of Barrera was a kitchen knife. The security guards then endorsed the respondent to Senior Police Officer 1 (SPO1) Juel Morata and PO1 Romeo Perez of Sasa police.
Abarca is currently detained at the Sasa police station while the recovered bladed weapon will be used as evidence against the respondent in court. The case is being handled by Prosecutor Jose Garcia.
