DAVAO CITY, (Updated) -- A man is facing charges before the City Prosecutor's Office for stealing fuel from the truck owned by his employer on Sampaguita St. in Mintal, Tugbok, Davao City on New Year's Eve.
Facing qualified theft charges is Christopher Galeg Ceballos, 33, driver of Creofab Inc., a transient resident of Purok 8, Barangay Tacunan, Tugbok and a native of Tagbina, Surigao del Sur.
Initial investigation conducted by Police Officer 2 (PO2) Felix Pabroa Jr. of Tugbok Police Station showed that the suspect was arrested at Jeepys Eatery on Sampaguita Street, Barangay Mintal in Tugbok around 11:10 a.m. of December 31.
Investigation of the Tugbok police revealed that the incident happened at 11 a.m. The respondent parked his driven Fuso truck with plate number MDJ751 owned by his employer, Creo-Fab Inc., outside the premises of the company's garage.
Two security guards detailed at the same company identified as Albashir Sabtal, 29, and Jeffrey Mending Sr. were prompted to check on the truck as they wondered why it was not parked inside the garage. When they checked, they saw Ceballos in the act of siphoning fuel from the truck and on to a black container.
Sabtal and Mending then apprehended the Ceballos and endorsed him to the Tugbok police.
Recovered from the possession of the suspect were three black containers of diesel fuel, another half-filled black container with an estimated amount of P5,000 and a hose worth P3,500.
The suspect is currently in the custody of Tugbok police while the recovered fuel and hose will be used as evidence against him in court.
