In 2012, at least three were killed and five others were injured, with a total of P134,956,100 worth of properties damaged, Alocelja added.
Alocelja said that among the most common causes of fire were faulty electrical wiring, unattended cookery, garbage burning, and overheating of appliances.
"The public need to be more cautious. Double check your belongings and refrain from wire tapping, from buying cheap wirings, and overloading kanang magsaksak ug kuryente sa usa ka outlet. Let's take preventive measures lang po," Alocelja said.
In spite of the constant reminders by the bureau about fire prevention and control, nine fire incidents transpired in the city just this month.
The bureau hopes that the public have learned their lesson from previous fire incidents.
As to the arson, the bureau recorded a total of 15 arson incidents in 2013, higher than two arson incidents recorded in 2012. The bureau cited personal grudge as one of the motives.
