AROUND P540,000 worth of valuables and cash were lost after unidentified men broke into a house on San Juan Street, Skyline Subdivision in Catalunan Grande, Davao City on Sunday afternoon.

The police identified the victims as Sylvia Guzman Valiente, 66, retired teacher, and her husband Generoso Curammeng Valiente, 70, retired forester, both residents of Block 5 Lot 23 Skyline Subdivision in Catalunan Grande.

Initial investigation conducted by Police Officer 1 (PO1) Ariel Ocampo of the Talomo Police Station showed that the couple left the house while son Marlon was sleeping, to attend mass.

When the couple arrived home at 6:55 p.m., Sylvia noticed that their master's bedroom has been forcibly opened. When she checked inside, she discovered all her assorted jewelries placed in a box were missing.

The robbers took one 23K Chinese gold necklace worth P50,000, one small 18K necklace worth P25,000, an 18K quantum worth P22,000, an 18K necklace pendant worth P18,000, two pairs of silver and gold earrings worth P12,000, two 10K rings worth P8,000, an 18K gold bracelet worth P26,000, another two pairs of earrings worth P18,000, and Chinese gold pair of earrings worth P25,000.

Her husband lost a Tag Huer watch worth P75,000, one 18K gold bracelet worth P25,000, three 18K gold necklaces worth P54,000 all, two pendants worth P20,000, two gold rings worth P15,000 and P110,000 cash.

The police believe that the suspects gained entry by climbing up the back fence and proceeded to the front door. The suspects took all the valuables while Marlon was sleeping, as they exited the house on the same route.

Police recovered three boxes of jewelry outside the house. They believed that suspects took time to collect the jewelries and threw the boxes outside, before leaving the house. The police added that they will check the latent prints of the boxes.

As of now, personnel of Talomo Police Station are still conducting follow-up investigation to identify the suspects.
