CHARGES have been filed before the City Prosecution Office of Panabo against two men in a notorious gunrunning syndicate arrested in a buy-bust operation at Purok Atis in Barangay Sto. Niño on Wednesday.
The suspects Rovelito Tan Dio, 33, of Purok 3-B in Barangay San Francisco in Panabo City, and Rogelio Fernandez Sugetarios, 54, of Barangay Sto. Niño in Panabo City, were charged with the Republic Act 10591, The Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.
Chief Inspector Warren Dablo, chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Davao del Norte, said their unit along with the representative of the Panabo City Police Station brought the suspects before the prosecutor’s office Thursday noon for inquest proceedings after authorities have completed the evidences and documents needed for the filing of case against them.
He added that the suspects are detained at the CIDG Davao del Norte jail facility.
The CIDG, in coordination with the Panabo City Police Station, arrested the suspects who were believed to be members of Torres Criminal Gang operating in Davao del Norte, at the house of Sugetarios around 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
Record from the unit showed that the suspects were arrested after one CIDG agent who acted as poseur buyer received the gun he bought from Sugetarios in exchange of a P500-marked money.
The suspects were found in possession of one .45 caliber Colt MKIV Series 80 pistol -- a government model with serial number 80918, two magazines, one .38 caliber revolver, 13 live ammunitions for the revolver, and P500 marked money. (Sun.Star Davao)
