DAVAO CITY Police Office (DCPO) director Senior Supt. Vicente D. Danao Jr. said Wednesday that the implementation of the random drug testing among his personnel will continue until he is assured that none of his men are using illegal drugs.

The city police director issued the statement after his 64 non-commissioned policemen from 12 police stations underwent a drug test Wednesday at the office of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Davao Region (PDEA 11) at Camp Domingo E. Leonor on San Pedro Street in Davao City.

Danao said the unannounced drug test was done to resolve the issues whether there are officers involved in illegal drugs. He added that there will be another unannounced drug test for the non-police commissioned officers.

"Everybody should undergo a drug test. With the Philippine National Police's (PNP) Ethics Day theme: Disiplina sa Sarili, Isang Hamon sa Kaayusan at Kaunlaran Tungo sa Serbisyong Makatotohanan, I must ensure na disiplinado ang mga tao ko," Danao said.

Danao said that as director, it is his responsibility to discipline his personnel and keep their performance in check. He reiterated that he does not want policemen under his leadership to be idle.

Danao added that implementation of the random drug testing among his personnel would continue especially if there are reports of policemen allegedly involved in drugs. He said anyone who tests positive for illegal drugs will be discharged from service.
