Duterte to Rosales, De Lima: Happy Valentine’s

-A A +A

DESPITE the exchange of hard-hitting words against each other because of his “I-will-kill-you” statement, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte greeted two women leaders, whom he had a word war in the past weeks, a “Happy Valentine’s.”

Duterte said he still wish Commission on Human Rights (CHR) Commissioner Etta Rosales and Department of Justice Secretary Leila de Lima a “happy Valentine.”

“Di man ko makig away ug babaye. Trabaho lang man na (I don’t fight with women),” he said during the Gikan sa Masa, Para sa Masa on Sunday.

Rosales and De Lima expressed their disagreement with Duterte when the latter publicly announced he will kill rice smugglers in his city.

It worsened when Duterte, during his Senate appearance on February 3, publicly said he “will gladly kill” Davidson Bangayan, the suspected central figure of all rice smugglers. [Read story here]

“I can understand Etta, syempre trabaho niya na. Syempre human rights, she has to say something, same with De Lima,” he said.

Rosales recently said the CHR is looking into the possibility of filing a complaint against Duterte.

“Wala man gyud mapriso ana. Musugot man ko basta uban sila duha (No one went to prison for that. I will willingly do so for as long as they go with me),” he said.
