MURDER charges were filed before the City Prosecutor’s Office against a couple tagged in the killing of a butcher at Barangay Lipadas, Daliao in Toril, Davao City on February 17.
Facing charges are Joel and Josephine Lazaga who also hail from the place of the incident.
The two were charged after they were identified by witnesses as the suspects responsible for killing Demetrio Antega, a 54-year-old butcher.
Toril police investigation revealed that the incident took place around 5:30 p.m.
Antega went to the house of the Lazagas to collect the payment of Josephine's debt. When the victim approached Josephine, however, the two allegedly had an altercation.
A witness identified as Rene Francisco Malabar, neighbor of the suspects, told police that he saw Josephine stabbing the victim multiple times with the use of an undetermined bladed weapon.
Another neighbor of the suspects identified as Emelio Samede Engcoy reportedly saw Joel helping his wife stab the victim.
The victim managed to escape and was taken by bystanders to St. John Hospital. He was later transferred to the Southern Philippines Medical Center, where he was declared dead after a few hours upon succumbing to multiple stab wounds to different parts of his body.
The two suspects are already identified but police are still conducting a manhunt operation against the suspects.
