A SUSPECTED drug pusher operating in Davao City was killed in a shootout with the police at Ulas Public Market in Talomo in Davao City on Wednesday morning.

Superintendent Julius Silagan, chief of Talomo police station, identified the suspect as Noel Surmion Generala, 32, resident of Purok 40 Talomo District.

The suspect was tagged as a notorious drug pusher in the area.

Talomo Police Station personnel, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Davao Region, were conducting a buy-bust operation in Ulas Public Market at 12:01 a.m. when the suspect realized that the buyer was an agent in disguise.

Generala pulled out a gun to shoot but back-up officers were able to fire to defend their comrade. The suspect succumbed to two gunshot wounds in different parts of his body. His corpse was then brought to Collado Funeral Parlor.

Recovered from the body were a homemade caliber .38 revolver, six live bullets, one Marlboro cigarette pack containing eight small sachets of suspected shabu, My Phone and Star Mobile cellular phones, wallet containing pertinent documents and P550 cash.

The Scene of the Crime Operatives also recovered four empty shells of a caliber .9mm pistol and a black and white Honda XRM motorcycle with plate number 888-QJ named to the suspect.

Last month, around 10 suspected drug pushers were killed in a shootout with authorities during an anti-drug operation in the city.

Silagan said the authorities in Davao aim to have a drug free city.
